The 2012 SPRING

(Sunshine Coast-Powell River-Lund Hash)
(Lund is on the Sunshine Coast of BC, 28km north of Powell River which is north of Vancouver)

By popular request, there will be another Spring SPLHash at Easter in 2012 with a longer, shiggier trail.

When?  Saturday, April 7th, 2012 at 2pm in Lund, BC.  If you missed it, read the scribbles at the bottom of this page

Your organizers, the Victoria Hash House Harriers, are once again planning a whale of a weekend which includes breakfast, the run, a seafood feast, trash, and beer.  Optional activities for Early Birds and Hangers On include oyster gathering and clam digging. There may be a spectacular sunset in there somewhere too.

Your registration will include breakfast, the run, the usual post-run munchies, trash, beer, wine, peel-and-eat prawns, barbecued oysters with various sauces, maybe some sautéed scallops and/or mussels, barbecued salmon, crisp roasted Easter bunny (just kidding), and more beer.   Belllllch!

Cost?  Register by February 29th and pay $35.00.  Register by March 31st and pay $40.00.  Register after April 1st and pay $45.00.  Campsites for tents and RVs are free.  Pre-registration is required in order to ensure sufficient beer, food and trash.  Complete the attached registration form and remember to mail it with payment.

How To Get There? By landFrom Vancouver, take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale then follow Highway 101 north to the end (which means you'll take a free second ferry then drive right through Powell River - the town, not the water) and follow the signs to the SunLund By-The-Sea. If you reach the ocean at the end of Highway 101, you have gone a quarter of a kilometer too far.  OR  from Vancouver Island, catch the ferry from Comox (Little River) to Powell River (Westview) then follow Highway 101 north to the end (see directions in above paragraph).

By air – Fly from Calgary or Edmonton with WestJet or Air Canada to Comox on Vancouver Island.  The ferry to Powell River from Comox is about $15.00 per foot passenger. Let us know you are cumming and we'll pick you up at the ferry in Powell River.  OR  fly right into Powell River on Pacific Coastal Airlines. Again, let us know and we'll pick you up at the airport in Powell River.

By sea – Read your nautical chart and sail, motor, paddle, float, drift or swim your way into the Lund Harbour. Then follow the pathway beside the waterwheel to SunLund.

Accommodation? Hey, there's a nice place called SunLund By-The-Sea Campground and Cabins (www.sunlund.ca) which is owned and operated by hash hosts.  Campsites are free.  Cabins are discounted 25%.  Book early to get a cabin.  Or there’s the Lund Hotel (www.lundhotel.com) which is about a three-minute walk to the campground.  Don’t ask for a “hash” discount when you reserve or they may have you arrested when you arrive.
