The 2009 SPRING

(Sunshine Coast-Powell River-Lund Hash)
(Lund is on the Sunshine Coast of BC, 28km north of Powell River which is north of Vancouver)

By popular request, there will be another Spring SPLHash at Easter in 2009.  The shiggy trail will once again be set with Easter eggs laid by the hares (any volunteers?) but the trail will be longer than previous years’ and much more challenging.

When?  Saturday, April 11th, 2009 at 2pm in Lund, BC.

Your hosts, Nipple Detector and Annie Cockledoo, are once again planning a whale of a  weekend.  Optional oyster shucking, clam digging, prawning, and fishing, then a run to be followed by downdowns, imbibing, group shower, and a seafood feast.  There may be a spectacular sunset in there somewhere too.

Your registration will include the run, the usual post-run munchies, beer, wine, bowls of peel-and-eat prawns, barbecued oysters with various sauces, maybe some sautéed scallops and/or mussels, barbecued salmon, crisp roasted Easter bunny, stuffing and fixins, taters, ‘shrooms, more beer, and homemade pie.   Belllllch!

Cost?  $50.00 prepaid Canadian cash which includes a campsite, the run, beer, meal and trash (yup, something other than scars to remember the run). Pre-registration is required in order to ensure sufficient beer, food and trash.  Complete the attached registration form and remember to mail it with payment.

Location? By land - Find your way to Vancouver on the West Coast of British Columbia. Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale then follow Highway 101 north to the end (which means you'll take a free second ferry then drive right through Powell River - the town, not the water) and follow the signs to the SunLund By-The-Sea Campground and Cabins. If you reach the ocean at the end of Highway 101, you have gone a quarter of a kilometer too far.

Or, if you are on Vancouver Island, catch the ferry from Comox (Little River) to Powell River (Westview) then follow Highway 101 north to the end (see directions in above paragraph).

By air – From Calgary or Edmonton, WestJet and Air Canada both fly to Comox on Vancouver Island.  The ferry to Powell River from Comox is about $10.00 per foot passenger. Let us know you are cumming and we'll pick you up at the ferry in Powell River.

Or fly right into Powell River on Pacific Coastal Airlines. Again, let us know and we'll pick you up at the airport in Powell River.

By sea – Read your nautical chart and sail, motor, paddle, float, drift or swim your way into the Lund Harbour. Then follow the pathway to SunLund.

Accommodation? Hey, there's a nice place called SunLund By-The-Sea Campground and Cabins (www.sunlund.ca) which is owned and operated by your hosts ACD & Nipple Detector.  Campsites are free.  Cabins are discounted 25%.  Book early to get a cabin.  Or there’s the three-star Lund Hotel (www.lundhotel.com) which is about a three-minute walk  to the campground.  Don’t ask for a “hash” discount when you reserve or they may have you arrested when you arrive.
